Sometimes it is hard to be a woman....

Picture
The morning bracha to be said by men - Blessed are You God for not making me a woman... doesn't matter how you spin it, there is no escaping the blatant misogyny of this bracha. The lacework of this doily contains chains, childbirth, frustrated housewife. And a breast cancer cell and a uterus. Because at the end of the day,  if men are going to say this every morning, they should appreciate how hard it is to be a woman.

The usual apologetic interpretation behind this bracha, is that men are thankful that they get to perform more mitzvot than women. Women do not need to perform as many mitzvot as they are on a higher spiritual plane. The lace also contains 2 figures, with angel wings. Chained up. Because if women were really perceived as being more in tune with spiritual matters, then wouldn't our opinion be consulted more often? Wouldn't we be more qualified to decided for ourselves?
