She's a witch....
'....the more women the more witchcraft' - (Pirkei Avot 2:8). This paper-cut was the first one in this series. This phrase has always troubled me, it expresses a suspicion of what could happen when women get together.... it can only be trouble.
The figures in the lacework are quite hidden, integrating the pattern with witchcraft symbols; pentagrams and sexy witches amongst the swirls and flowers. As the series progressed, the imagery got bolder and the text was in both english and hebrew. But there is something interesting about the subtlety of seeing something 'pretty' which reveals something much darker on closer inspection.
